Course Planning Resources

Below you will find the resources most commonly used for planning your courses. For more information on advising, please consult the comprehensive Advising Guide.

Knowing your requirements:

  • Program Requirements - Curriculum worksheets (a list of all required courses) and sample 4-year plans for all options.
  • Minimum Grade Requirement – All students in ANSC must earn a C- or better in all major required courses. Consult this chart for all courses considered major-required under this policy.
  • Benchmarks - courses students must complete by the time they have completed a designated number of semesters within the ANSC major.

Picking courses that satisfy those requirements:

Putting it all together:

  • 4-year Plan Guide - detailed, step-by-step guide which walks you through creating a customized course plan (4-year plan.)
  • Updating your course plan – important factors to keep in mind as you revise and change your course plan.
  • Peer Mentors - Students who require additional help with constructing their course plans should visit the ANSC Peer Mentor or the AGNR Peer Mentors. Peer Mentors are current upper classmen within the College of AGNR who are available to help students learn to use UMD programs and build their course plans.
  • UAchieve - UMD's degree auditing program to help you look at what degree requirements you have already satisfied, and what you still need to take. View the User Guide for instructions on how to run and interpret your audit. View our UAchieve page in the Advising Guide for specific information on how to view your ANSC requirements in UAchieve.
  • Blank Template – for use in creating your course plan
